2025 honda safety features like the beam headlights

Honda Sensing is an advanced suite of intelligent driver assistance and safety systems that protect you on the road. They utilize advanced technology to identify potential collision risks and warn you or actively intervene to prevent accidents. As your Honda dealership, we want to tell you more about some of these safety features.

Active Cruise Control (ACC)

Cruise control has been around for a long time, but Honda Sensing takes it to the next level. The original cruise control was useful when driving long distances, as you could program a specific speed, and your Honda would maintain it until you intervened. This helped to reduce muscle strain by allowing you to take your hands off the wheel.

ACC allows you to set a following distance from a vehicle in front of you. It uses radar to identify the vehicle and can automatically decrease your speed should the other driver slow down or hit the brakes unexpectedly. It will also accelerate if needed to maintain the preset distance. The system deactivates when your speed drops below 22 mph, and it will warn you so you can apply the brakes and stop your Honda.

Auto High-Beam Headlights

This system is active at night or in other low-light conditions when your speed is 25 mph or above. It uses sensors to detect oncoming headlights or the tail lights of a vehicle ahead of you. If lights are identified, the system automatically switches your high beams to low beams to prevent blinding the other drivers. Once the detected lights leave sensor range, your headlights revert to high beams.

Road Departure Mitigation System (RDMS)

This feature uses a specialized camera to identify lane line markings and road edge lines. If you’re tired, distracted, or driving at night, it’s possible to inadvertently cross the road edge lines and potentially cause an accident. Once the lines are identified, RDMS will provide visual and audio alerts if you’re about to leave the road and aren’t actively steering. It also applies steering torque to direct you back into your lane.

Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)

This system uses a dedicated camera to monitor road signs. When a sign is recognized, an image of the sign will appear on your screen. This ensures you never miss Important information and can easily react if necessary.
